A picture torn in half

This story is a post I found on X by Omar Hamad, a self described pharmacist, writer and film critic from Gaza, Palestine. Reading it hurts so much. These are Omar’s own words.

Before our house was completely bombed, the Zionist occupation forces roamed my town, Beit Hanoun, searching homes, stealing, looting, and destroying them

After this rotten army withdrew, my friend managed to reach our house, hoping to find some scraps of food, as hunger had consumed them in northern Gaza. Instead, he found a picture of me and my father that one of the Zionists had torn in half, and they were writing despicable, vile phrases on the walls.

Even our beautiful memories anger them; everything related to our past, they want to erase completely. They have exterminated our youth, our children, our women, and our elderly, and they have also annihilated our dreams and aspirations, and even our memories have not been spared from them.
