This life

Inside 24 hours hundreds of people came together to support the Iman appeal, to help a Palestinian family escape Gaza through the Raffa crossing. But some people question why we should help one person or one family when 2.3M are under bombardment.

"And whoever saves a life it is as though he had saved the lives of all mankind" (5:32).

That’s a saying from the Quran. It resonates a lot.

When I was working on the baby Mohammed appeal, in 2014, someone commented, “why this baby, when there are so many babies that need help”.

That’s simply an argument for doing nothing. We all do what we can whether that means supporting one appeal for one family or a more generic appeal. Either way, we know what we would do if it was our family. Don’t we?
